Today is Part 2 of a virtual tour through the V&A’s “permanent” costume exhibition, Romantic to Mid-Victorian.
And away we go!
I think these 1830s foundation garments may be about my favourite thing on display in the costume gallery. I just LOVE these sleeve supports. They’re one of those things that so helps make sense of how fashion at the time worked. And I somehow just find them so charming in their own right.
Oh shoot, I appear to have missed the shoes. Sorry about that!
There was another waistcoat in the corner, but it was just too dark for the camera to be able to handle and it simply wouldn’t focus.
But wedding stuff is more fun anyway! ;o)
Tomorrow (hopefully): Late Victorian & Edwardian!
I would Love to go through that album of ribbons!!!
