V&A Costume Gallery Virtual Tour Part 2

Today is Part 2 of a virtual tour through the V&A’s “permanent” costume exhibition, Romantic to Mid-Victorian.

I think these 1830s foundation garments may be about my favourite thing on display in the costume gallery.  I just LOVE these sleeve supports.  They’re one of those things that so helps make sense of how fashion at the time worked.  And I somehow just find them so charming in their own right.

There was another waistcoat in the corner, but it was just too dark for the camera to be able to handle and it simply wouldn’t focus.
